Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly appointed Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, as their children's nanny.
According to a recent report from the Daily Express, sources reveal that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have chosen to entrust Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 2, to Doria Ragland, who now lives with the couple in their Montecito mansion.
“Harry and Meghan have used various nannies in the past, but since Doria moved in, she has stepped up to care for the children,” a source shared.
The source added, “Doria was pivotal in looking after Archie and Lilibet while Harry and Meghan were in Nigeria. She treats them as if they were her own.”
“Meghan feels much more comfortable with her mother watching over the children, and Harry strongly prefers keeping childcare within the family,” the insider explained.
“Both Harry and Meghan are very protective of their kids and only relax when Doria is in charge during their absences.”
The source continued, “Meghan believes it’s crucial for the children to be raised by family rather than outsiders to ensure they always feel safe and secure.”
This decision marks another break from royal tradition, where professional nannies are typically employed to care for young royals.
Royal author Omid Scobie, in his book "Finding Freedom," details Harry and Meghan’s unsettling experience with a night nanny for baby Archie, describing the nurse as “unprofessional and irresponsible” on her second night, which made the couple wary of future hires.
