Amidst plans for the renovation of Prince Andrew's 30-bedroom royal lodge, the Duke of York finds himself embroiled in controversy over his public standing.
Despite efforts to charm his royal relatives, Prince Andrew seems unlikely to regain favor with the public anytime soon, according to recent reports.
Royal commentator Mark Dolan, speaking on GB News, has bestowed upon the disgraced royal a new "title," branding him a "stubborn stain on the royal family."
Dolan's scathing assessment continued: "While Royal Lodge may undergo renovation, Prince Andrew himself remains irreparable."
He further criticized Prince Andrew's continued residence in the lavish palace, deeming it inappropriate given the scandal surrounding his association with Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Giuffre.
Dolan remarked, "No matter how much effort is put into cleansing, Prince Andrew remains an indelible blemish on the Royal Family."
The comments come amidst concerns over the state of Andrew's royal lodge, which reportedly suffers from various structural issues, including rising damp and crumbling brickwork.
Reports indicate a strained relationship between Prince Andrew and his brother King Charles, exacerbated by the deteriorating condition of the lodge. Allegedly, a deal was struck allowing Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson to reside there in exchange for its maintenance.
Despite its £30 million value, the property is said to be in disrepair, with Andrew struggling to meet its annual upkeep costs.
In response to the situation, Dolan remarked that while the lodge may be renovated, Prince Andrew's reputation remains irreparable, echoing the sentiment that he is a liability to the monarchy.
