Just back from their tour of Nigeria, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been hit with startling news regarding their charity, The Archewell Foundation.
The California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers has flagged the foundation as delinquent for failing to submit the necessary annual report(s) and/or renewal fees. This revelation, reported by People, states that the foundation is "not in good standing" and is barred from activities requiring registration, such as soliciting or distributing charitable funds.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta has issued a stern warning, indicating that the organization could face penalties and potential suspension or revocation of its registration. "Upon submission of the delinquent record(s), the amount of any late fees owed will be communicated," Bonta clarified.
Contrary to this notice, the New York Post reports that a source close to the Archewell Foundation claims the required filings were made on time, but the check was not received. The foundation has since sent a new check and anticipates the matter will be resolved and updated in the records within seven business days.
Founded in 2020 after Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals, the Archewell Foundation is dedicated to uplifting and uniting communities through acts of service and compassion, according to its website.
