Meghan Markle and Prince Harry returned to Los Angeles earlier this week after a whirlwind trip to Nigeria.
Prince Harry's emotions were evident upon his return to America after the trip with Meghan Markle.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seen at the Los Angeles airport on Monday after an 18-hour flight. Meghan led the way, with Harry following behind, looking downcast.
Royal expert Tom Quinn commented that Harry seemed upset, possibly linked to his recent UK visit. Harry had hoped to see his father, King Charles, but the monarch was reportedly too busy.
Quinn told The Mirror: "Harry tried to put on a brave face during his UK visit, but his true feelings were apparent when he landed back in Los Angeles. It was impossible not to see how downcast he looked.
"It's no surprise, as he had hoped to spend more time with his father than their brief 30-minute meeting during his last UK visit." Harry previously visited the UK in February and met with King Charles at Clarence House.
However, they did not reunite during Harry's recent UK trip for the Invictus Games. A spokesperson for Harry said Charles was too busy to meet him.
The statement read: "It will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme. The Duke understands his father's commitments and hopes to see him soon."
Conflicting reports suggest the monarch did offer to see his son, but Harry declined. Sources claim Charles invited Harry to stay in a royal residence, but Harry opted for a hotel instead.
Charles reportedly made the offer knowing Harry no longer had an official residence in the UK, as Meghan and Harry were evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year.
