Prince Harry notified King Charles of his UK visit well in advance
A close friend of Prince Harry defended his choice to stay in a hotel during his UK trip, countering claims that he turned down an offer from King Charles to stay at a royal residence.
In an interview with Roya Nikkhah of The Times, the friend revealed that Harry's trip for The Invictus Games had been planned for quite some time. This should have provided ample opportunity for the monarch to arrange his schedule to meet with his son.
Earlier this week, Harry released a statement through his spokesperson, indicating that a one-on-one meeting with his father, who is battling cancer, was not possible due to conflicting schedules.
It is important to highlight that Prince Harry is required to give a 28-day notice prior to visiting the UK to arrange for his security.
The friend expressed disbelief to the outlet, saying, “I can’t imagine that Harry’s request to meet with Charles was overlooked. Even if they didn't receive a formal request, which I doubt, couldn't His Majesty have reached out to his son? Everyone knew Harry was coming.”
Harry is reportedly 'deeply stung' by the missed opportunity to meet, according to his friends.
“I’m really surprised. I fully expected them to meet. I know that’s what Harry wanted, and now I’m unsure when he’ll be back,” one friend remarked.
