During Harry's visit to the UK last month to attend a service at St Paul's Cathedral for the Invictus Games, expectations were high for a potential reunion with his family. However, a spokesman for the Duke of Sussex announced upon his arrival in London that there would be no meeting with his father due to the monarch's hectic agenda.
Contradictory reports have emerged, suggesting that Harry declined an invitation from his father, who is undergoing cancer treatment, to stay at a royal residence due to security concerns. Instead, Harry opted to stay in a hotel because the offer did not include adequate security provisions.
Royal expert and biographer Ingrid Seward criticized Harry's comment, stating that it was hurtful to his father, especially considering King Charles's fragile health.
"When Prince Harry turned down his father’s offer to stay at a royal residence during his three-day trip to London in May, it was a surprise to the royal household," Seward told the Mirror. "The King was aware Harry had no UK base and was unduly anxious about security. However, issuing a statement claiming his father was too busy to meet him was unnecessary and hurtful."
Seward also highlighted the ongoing security concerns for Harry, suggesting that they may prevent Charles from fulfilling one of his long-held wishes.
