Prince William has released a touching video message about protecting the planet, shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle concluded their successful visit to Nigeria to reunite with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
In a surprise address for the Steve Irwin Gala, the Prince of Wales expressed his support for the Irwin family and their conservation efforts. This came on the heels of a text from Steve Irwin’s son, Robert Irwin, which prompted the heartfelt message.
On Saturday, Steve Irwin’s wife, Terri Irwin, along with their children, Bindi and Robert, gathered in Las Vegas for the Wildlife Warriors’ Steve Irwin Gala. Prince William, committed to his public duties while his wife Kate Middleton undergoes cancer treatment, recorded a special message for the event.
Welcoming guests to the gala, William honored Steve Irwin’s legacy, saying, "Tonight is all about conservation and continuing Steve’s global mission to protect life on our planet. His dream was to have the cleanest water, the freshest air, and wildlife in abundance. But most of all, he wanted a future for our children."
The future King highlighted his shared passion for environmental preservation, linking it to his Earthshot Prize initiative. "Advocating for the preservation of life on our planet is a passion that I share, and it is why I launched the Earthshot Prize to search for and scale innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges. Our mission is to protect and restore our planet in this critical decade leading up to 2030."
William expressed gratitude for the Irwin family's support of the Earthshot Prize, especially acknowledging Robert as an advocate and ambassador for the prize. "I'm proud to join you virtually tonight to celebrate their work through Wildlife Warriors. Seeing the global impact of the charity, founded by Steve and Terri in 2002, brings hope for the future."
Stressing the importance of environmental consciousness, the prince stated, “Never before has it been so important for every single one of us to make environmentally conscious choices that will ensure the health and future of our planet.”
William concluded with a message of hope and collaboration: "I hope you have an enjoyable night, and thank you for caring about the future of our wildlife, our wild places, and our planet. Together, we can make a difference."
