Last week, Prince Harry was in London for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. During this time, Queen Camilla provided a significant update on King Charles's health.
At a garden party, 76-year-old Camilla disclosed that King Charles is steadily progressing after his cancer diagnosis but expressed her frustration over his heavy workload so soon after resuming public duties. Just last week, Charles managed to complete five royal engagements within 48 hours.
The 75-year-old monarch was unable to join Camilla at Lamb House in Rye, East Sussex, for today’s event, having been "dragged away to more menial tasks." Despite his absence, Camilla enjoyed a performance by actors Timothy West and Hayley Mills and mentioned that Charles is recovering well but was "quite cross he could not be there" at the National Trust property, home of author E.F. Benson.
She commented that the King is "getting better," then jokingly added, "Well, he would be if he behaved himself." Camilla enjoyed her literary-themed day by the coast, coinciding with her own literary festival launch.
Next month, her event at Hampton Court Palace will feature her A-list actor friends, including Miriam Margolyes and Helena Bonham-Carter, for a spectacular performance. Camilla, who married Charles 19 years ago last month, also revealed her love for the Harry Potter series. When asked by nine-year-old Bess if there was a fictional place she would like to visit, the Queen Consort replied, "One place I think I'd love to go is Hogwarts. I’d like to jump on the Express, sit in that wonderful hall, and wait for the hat to pick a house for me. I'd love to see Dumbledore, Hagrid, and Snape, and experience the magical world."
The event was also attended by children’s laureate Joseph Coelho, Tracy Beaker author Jacqueline Wilson, actress Jenny Agutter, and Horrid Henry author Francesca Simon, along with Sir Lenny Henry.
Although King Charles missed this gathering, he is set to lead the Royal Family at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show next week. He is reportedly delighted that his doctors have cleared him for more public engagements.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Prince Harry was left devastated by his father's blunt refusal to meet him. According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Harry was deeply hurt by this public rejection, especially since his London visit was expected to be a chance for reconciliation. Quinn told The Mirror, “He was deeply shocked at his father’s blunt refusal to see him even for a moment.”
