King Charles is overworking himself despite his ongoing battle with cancer, leaving Queen Camilla and his doctors worried about his relentless dedication to public duties.
Speaking to the Daily Beast, a friend of the Queen Consort revealed she is “trying to encourage him to slow down” over fears that his continuous “cracking on” could negatively impact his health.
This follows a recent report from the Daily Mail, which claimed Camilla has been making discreet notes in his briefings, with phrases like “Softly, softly catches the monkey” and “Prudens qui patiens,” meaning, “The prudent man is patient.”
Charles’ medical team has also expressed concerns about his determination to undertake numerous external engagements.
A friend of the royal family told the Daily Beast: “It’s a worry for everyone because he has made no secret of the fact that he still has cancer and is still receiving treatment for it. But I think he wants to raise awareness that cancer is something many people live with and manage as best they can.”
Camilla’s friend also voiced doubts about his upcoming trip to Australia and Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting later this year.
They noted: “I do wonder if Camilla will support him going to Australia. She is not the type to put her foot down, but she might say, ‘Come on now, darling, is this really sensible?’”
