Today, May 6, 2024, marks the fifth birthday of Prince Archie, yet the absence of any public acknowledgment from the Royal Family has left many fans puzzled.
Despite the significance of the occasion, Buckingham Palace has not issued a statement regarding Archie's birthday, prompting curiosity among royal enthusiasts.
While supporters of Meghan and Harry have taken to social media to express their well-wishes, the Royal Family's official Twitter account notably made no mention of Archie's milestone. Instead, a post commemorating the first anniversary of The King and Queen's Coronation in Westminster Abbey was shared.
Speculation lingers as to whether the Royal Family conveyed private messages to the couple. However, one royal expert offers a straightforward explanation for the silence surrounding Archie's birthday, as well as the lack of public acknowledgment for other members of the Firm, including the York Princesses and Lilibet.
"In recent years, particularly since the reign of King Charles III began in September 2022, public messages from the Royal Family's social media accounts have been reserved for working members of the Royal Family," explained Danielle Stacey, Hello!'s online royal correspondent.
Stacey elaborated, highlighting that since stepping back as senior royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer undertake official royal duties. Similarly, birthdays of non-working members of the Royal Family, such as Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and Zara Tindall, along with their children, typically do not prompt public messages from the palace.
A source previously noted that there is no established protocol for extending birthday wishes to non-working members of the Royal Family, underscoring the absence of public acknowledgment for Archie's special day.
