Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found themselves unexpectedly delayed at London Heathrow after their scheduled British Airways flight to Nigeria was postponed due to the pilot falling ill, as reported by the Mirror.
The couple faced a wait as British Airways arranged for a replacement pilot for the 11-hour flight. Eventually, they landed in Abuja, Nigeria's capital, at 5 am the following day.
Meghan, 42, had initially flown to London alone to join Harry for the next leg of his Invictus Games promotion tour. They reunited at Heathrow's VIP Windsor Suite before boarding their flight to Africa. Traveling in the First Class section of a Boeing 777, they were separated from other passengers by a curtain.
Upon arrival in Nigeria, fellow passengers were held back to allow Harry and Meghan to disembark first. They were seen exchanging smiles with the cabin crew as they exited the aircraft. At Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Nigerian officials greeted the couple and escorted them into a waiting blacked-out minibus. They were accompanied by the same security team that had been with Harry during his stay in London earlier in the week.
Prince Harry returned to the UK to attend a special service at St Paul's Cathedral in London, marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. This trip was solo for Harry, as Meghan chose to remain in California with their children. Despite being invited, Royal Family members did not attend the event on Wednesday.
Harry and King Charles did not meet during the prince's visit, despite being only a few miles apart as the Monarch hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace. A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex confirmed that a meeting wouldn't take place, citing the King's "full programme."
