Sources speaking to Page Six highlight discomfort within royal and British diplomatic circles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan more such tours.
An insider remarked that while Harry and Meghan's trips resemble royal tours, they often disregard necessary protocols, causing challenges for diplomatic missions.
"Their trip to Nigeria was intriguing because it didn’t fit the usual royal categories. This would have posed challenges for the High Commission in Nigeria," they shared.
"Whenever a prince visits, officially or unofficially, there are protocol, security, and media issues that must be addressed."
The Sussexes' tours echo Princess Diana's commitment to charity and goodwill after her divorce from King Charles. However, unlike Diana, some of her trips received full support from the foreign office, aligning with British interests abroad.
