Kate Middleton 'Nervous' About Return as King Charles Faces Disappointment

Kate Middleton, accompanied by Prince William and their children, likely felt "nervous" during her dramatic return at Trooping the Colour, yet found joy in reconnecting with her public role and two activities she missed while undergoing cancer treatment. Former Royal butler and commentator Grant Harrold noted that Kate, 42, might have experienced anxiety making her first public appearance since her cancer battle was disclosed.

The Duchess made a striking entrance, dressed in a Jenny Packham dress, a Philip Treacy hat, and the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch, signifying her role as the regiment's Colonel. Harrold emphasized Kate's dedication to her royal duties and her confidence in fulfilling them. He acknowledged the significance of her return for both Kate and the public, who showed immense support and affection.

Harrold remarked, "Kate will be happy to be back in the public eye. She's always taken her Royal duties very seriously and she carries them out with such confidence too. I'm sure she's been wanting to engage with the public and fulfil her duties, so the thought of getting back out there today, she'll no doubt be pleased about. It's certainly a big moment for her, and her family, and there's bound to be an element of nervousness felt among them all - Kate especially."

Despite the positive reception, King Charles showed signs of "disappointment" during the event, as noted by Harrold. The King, who received a cancer diagnosis in February, opted not to ride on horseback, a departure from his usual tradition. Harrold explained that this decision, though possibly age-related, might have been difficult for Charles, who values royal customs.

Harrold stated, "I think Charles will be slightly disappointed that he's not on horseback as it's something he's always done over the years. We should mention that the Queen in 1986, when she was 60 years old, reverted from being on horseback to going in a carriage. The King is now 75, so he's considerably older than the Queen was when the change was made with her - whether this is a normal move and intentional because of his age is quite possible, but he's very traditional."

Harrold speculated that Charles might return to horseback in the future, maintaining his commitment to tradition. Despite any personal disappointment, Charles did not exhibit nervousness, remaining composed and accustomed to such events.
