The 75-year-old monarch is advocating for Andrew, who has faced disgrace, to "downsize" to Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of Prince Harry and Meghan, according to recent reports.
Citing royal sources, GB News reveals that King Charles is unwilling to continue funding the Duke of York's lifestyle at Royal Lodge, the expansive Windsor Great Park home that once belonged to the Queen Mother.
This decision may exacerbate tensions within the royal family, already strained due to King Charles and Kate Middleton's cancer diagnoses and the ongoing rift with Harry and Meghan.
A royal source explained, "The King’s kindness has its limits, and Frogmore Cottage provides a suitable option for Andrew. Its location within the Windsor Castle security cordon also reduces the need for additional round-the-clock security at Royal Lodge."
The insider expressed concern over Andrew's delay in acknowledging the situation, despite it being the most logical course of action.
They cautioned, "If he refuses to relocate to a more suitable property, the King may need to reassess the level of support he is willing to extend."
However, reports indicate that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's father is resistant to vacating the property, much to the monarch's frustration. Although Andrew holds the lease for Royal Lodge, Charles controls the financial aspect.
A friend of Andrew remarked to The Times, "The situation remains unchanged. He has a long-term lease on Royal Lodge, and the family has resided there for over two decades, with several decades remaining on the lease."
