Royal expert Phil Dampier, speaking on The Sun’s The Royal Exclusive show, revealed that the late monarch harbored concerns about being exploited whenever she interacted with the Sussexes. Consequently, she made the decision to prohibit Harry and Meghan from taking any photographs of her with their youngest daughter, Lilibet, during her platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Dampier explained, "The big fear that the late Queen had and that the King now has is that when [Harry and Meghan] turn up, they do tend to turn up with a sort of Netflix film crew or a photographer in tow."
He further elaborated, "You always get the feeling that whatever happens, whatever the discussions are, that it's going to sooner or later end up on a programme or in some sort of podcast. And that's unfortunately where the trust has gone and they just don't trust [Harry]."
Despite the Queen's health challenges, she remained sharp and recognized the potential exploitation in photographs taken with Lilibet, leading her to firmly refuse any such documentation.
Dampier also suggested that the Queen may have been displeased with the contentious decision to name their daughter Lilibet in the first place. He stated, "So yes she put her foot down and said no photographs and I must admit, I don't blame her, but it's sad we've never seen one."
The late Queen's decision reflects her strategic approach to protect the integrity of the royal family amidst concerns of exploitation by certain members.
