Meghan Markle, who acquired the title upon marrying Prince Harry, might lose it due to the deepening rift within the royal family.
Should this occur, Meghan would be addressed as Princess Henry, according to Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine.
Seward informed The Mirror that while the chances of King Charles removing Meghan and Harry’s titles are slim, they still have secondary titles.
“I doubt the titles will be removed because, even if they are, Harry remains a prince by birth and Meghan would be Princess Henry instead of Duchess of Sussex,” Seward elaborated.
“This would likely confuse Americans,” she added. “It’s probably best to leave it as is to avoid seeming harsh and unnecessary.”
Prince Harry’s full name is Prince Henry Charles Albert David, though he is commonly known as Harry.
Therefore, if Meghan were to lose her Duchess title, royal protocol dictates she would be known as Princess Henry, reflecting her husband's name.
