Meghan Markle's Resistance Blocks Prince Harry's UK Dreams

Prince Harry's hopes of returning to the UK have been thwarted by Meghan Markle's reluctance, leaving him struggling to adjust to life in the United States, far from his friends and family.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield discussed on Times Radio the Duke of Sussex’s strong desire to "return to the UK" and Meghan Markle’s opposition to the idea.

The couple stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 to seek a more independent, private life during the reign of the late Queen Elizabeth. Since then, they have settled in California, residing in a Montecito mansion with their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

Schofield also mentioned that the author of "Spare" was "devastated" by King Charles’ decision to evict them from Frogmore Cottage, leaving them without a UK residence.

Harry is expected to miss the upcoming wedding of his longtime friend and Archie’s godfather, Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, later this week. The royal expert suggested he must be "thinking" about missing his friend’s big day, as well as the absence of any royal family members at his daughter’s birthday party on Tuesday, June 4.

The prince is said to miss the pageantry and grandeur of the UK, which contrasts with the ordinary lifestyle in California.

However, Meghan’s consistent reluctance towards Harry’s home country prevents him from maintaining a "one foot in, one foot out" situation between the two nations.

"He would love to have a permanent home there," Schofield noted, adding: "The one thing holding him back is Meghan Markle."
