Fitzwilliams told The Mirror that the Duke of Sussex's effort to personally fund extra police protection has faced criticism for potentially creating a two-tier system, leading to its rejection in court. He noted that Harry's traumatic experience of losing his mother, Princess Diana, might shift public perception, despite the likelihood that his appeal for enhanced security will be unsuccessful.
"Harry is haunted by what happened to his mother and now faces threats from far-right extremists. Securing full taxpayer-funded protection for non-working royals is challenging, but there may be sympathy for his situation," Fitzwilliams stated.
While it is uncertain whether Harry and his family will be included in the 'Other VIP Category,' the legal costs of his appeal are expected to be substantial, further highlighting the seriousness of the threats they face.
