Reports suggest that the Duke of Sussex is unhappy with the alleged plan to allocate Frogmore Cottage, previously the residence of Harry and Meghan, to Prince Andrew.
According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Harry is "upset" over this decision as Frogmore Cottage held sentimental value as their last foothold in the UK.
"However deep the rift with his father and brother, Harry always had hopes that he and Meghan might eventually be allowed to re-establish Frogmore Cottage at Windsor as their UK base," Quinn stated.
Frogmore Cottage was bestowed upon Meghan and Harry as a wedding gift by the late Queen Elizabeth II. The couple renovated the historic home, making it their residence in 2019 until their decision to step down as senior working royals in 2020.
King Charles reportedly requested the Sussexes to vacate the property permanently in March of last year. Now, with Prince Andrew allegedly being directed to move in, tensions have escalated.
Quinn shared Prince Andrew's reaction to the news, stating, "Andrew is furious that despite his pleas to his brother to be allowed to stay at Royal Lodge, he has been given his marching orders."
The royal expert elaborated on the reasons behind King Charles' decision, asserting that it addresses multiple issues. "For King Charles, forcing Andrew to move to Frogmore solves several problems at once," Quinn explained. "It sends a message to Harry that, as a private citizen and no longer a working royal, he will never be allowed back to Frogmore."
Quinn added, "It sends [a] message to Andrew that having disgraced himself, he can no longer expect to live in the grand style. And, finally, it means that a suitably grand residence can be made ready for the royals who really matter, William and Kate."
