The Duke of Sussex initiated legal proceedings against the Home Office following a decision by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) in February 2020.
Despite being informed of a reduction in publicly-funded protection in the UK, Harry's legal team argued that he was unfairly targeted and treated less favorably by Ravec.
A spokesperson for the Duke clarified that their aim was not preferential treatment, but rather a fair and lawful application of Ravec's rules.
In a setback, retired High Court judge Sir Peter Lane rejected Harry's case in February, stating that Ravec's approach was neither irrational nor procedurally unfair.
However, Harry has now been granted permission to challenge Sir Peter's dismissal at the Court of Appeal, as confirmed by an order from Lord Justice Bean dated May 23.
The Court of Appeal has indicated its readiness to consider Harry's challenge following a direct application from his legal team, affirming that the Prince has been permitted to appeal.
