The King, Queen, and other members of the Royal Family will attend the banquet, where both King Charles and the Emperor of Japan will deliver speeches. The Emperor and Empress, currently on a State Visit to the UK, were welcomed by the King and Queen at Horse Guards Parade before the Emperor inspected a Guard of Honour formed by the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.
State Visits to the UK typically occur twice a year and serve as a platform for strengthening international relationships. The visiting Head of State is officially hosted by the King and Queen.
Following a private lunch at Buckingham Palace, the Emperor and Empress viewed a special exhibition in the Picture Gallery featuring items from the Royal Collection related to Japan. They will also engage in various other activities, including a visit to The Francis Crick Institute, the UK's leading biomedical research center, and a banquet at the Guildhall before their formal farewell at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.
