Eminem's 12th album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), dropped on Friday, and the legendary rapper didn't hold back.
On the ninth track, "Fuel," Eminem and J.I.D tackle some of the industry's biggest controversies, including the s*xual assault allegations against Sean "Diddy" Combs and the tragic shooting incident on the set of Rust, involving Alec Baldwin. Eminem's signature style of calling out celebrities and addressing hot topics is on full display in this latest release.
In Eminem’s second verse of the song, he raps: “I’m like a R-A-P-E-R (Yeah) / Got so many S-As (S-As), S-As (Huh) / Wait, he didn’t just spell the word, ‘Rapper’ and leave out a P, did he? (Yep).” When rapped, the lyrics “P, did he?” clearly sound like “P. Diddy.”
Eminem pays tribute to hip-hop legends Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur in his verse, lamenting their untimely deaths. He then references the long-standing conspiracy theory surrounding Tupac's murder, suggesting that Sean "Diddy" Combs was involved in orchestrating the hit.
The lyrics imply that Combs allegedly paid Duane "Keffe D" Davis $1 million to kill Tupac and Suge Knight, a claim that has been circulating for years.
Toward the end of the same verse, Eminem addresses the Rust tragedy, rapping: “F**k around and get popped like Halyna Hutchins / Like I’m Alec Baldwin, what I mean is buckin’ you down, coup de grâce then.”
