The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Popularity Declines in the US
Princess Kate is being celebrated as the new "People's Princess" by her fans, even as she battles cancer. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, the Princess of Wales remains resilient, attending significant royal events and receiving admiration for her bravery.
Conversely, Meghan Markle's popularity continues to lag behind Kate's in the US. Americans appear increasingly disenchanted with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. A recent Redfield and Wilton poll indicates the Sussexes' favorability is lower compared to other royal family members.
Since relocating to California in 2020, Meghan and Harry's relationship with the American public has been inconsistent. Meghan's standing in the UK is even less favorable, with a May poll showing only 25% of Britons supporting her.
In contrast, Princess Kate enjoys widespread admiration in both the UK and the US. She recently received a standing ovation at Centre Court while watching the Wimbledon men's singles final with her daughter, Princess Charlotte.
The poll, released on the anniversary of King Charles' Coronation, highlights rising approval ratings for most royal family members, except for Meghan and Harry. Prince Harry also faces low popularity, with only 31% of respondents expressing a favorable view.
Meghan was last seen in the UK in late 2022 during Queen Elizabeth II's funeral. Prince Harry has made several visits to the UK, including a recent one to see his father, King Charles, following his cancer diagnosis.
