Princess Kate Breaks Silence with Emotional Tribute as Murray Bids Farewell to Wimbledon
Kate Middleton has shared an emotional message following Andy Murray's announcement of his retirement from Wimbledon. The Princess of Wales paid tribute to the two-time singles champion after Emma Raducanu pulled out of their planned appearance in the mixed doubles.
In her heartfelt message, Princess Kate wrote: "An incredible Wimbledon career comes to an end. You should be so very proud @andymurray. On behalf of all of us, thank you! C."
Princess Kate, who made her first official public appearance of the year in June at Trooping the Colour, has been the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club since 2016 and has previously presented trophies to the tournament's winners.
British professional tennis player Andy Murray expressed his gratitude to Wimbledon organizers for an "emotional" farewell ceremony following his final appearance, which ended with a defeat alongside his older brother Jamie in the men's doubles.
Murray stated, "The time has come to shut the door on my illustrious career after Jamie and I were defeated in the first round of the men's doubles at my final Wimbledon. I'm ready to finish playing because I can't play to the level that I would want to anymore."
Princess Kate has not revealed whether she will attend the tournament this year. However, her statement has given fans hope that she may grace the event and present the trophies to the winners.
