Kate Middleton was taken aback when she learned about a playful interaction Prince William had with a 96-year-old woman during a video call. The Prince of Wales recounted the lighthearted moment from his 2021 visit to Scotland, where he met Betty Magee at Bay Lodge Care Home in Edinburgh.
During a video call in May of that year, William shared the amusing incident, saying, "I got propositioned by a 96-year-old lady called Betty yesterday who wanted to kiss me." He also humorously noted Kate's reaction, adding, "This is what happens when I'm not around."
The moment recently went viral on TikTok, garnering 26,000 likes and 120,000 views. The clip was captioned: "BRO idk how I didn't know till today that William & Catherine interviews are the most fun thing to watch. THEY'RE SO FUNNY BRO I ACC CAN NOT."
While chatting over ice cream, Betty Magee cheekily suggested, "It's customary in these parts to give a lady a kiss on the cheek." William, charmed by her, responded, "Oh, you are sweet. You'll make me blush. When the rules relax more, I will come back and give you a kiss on the cheek, Betty."
William later recounted this encounter during a Zoom interview with actors Emma Stone and Emma Thompson from the 2021 movie "Cruella." He described Betty as a character and joked about maintaining social distancing, saying, "She said, 'I'll have you afterwards then.'"
The Prince and Princess of Wales had hosted a special screening of "Cruella" for Britain's National Health Service workers as a gesture of thanks for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
