King Charles and Queen Camilla made a significant appearance in Wales today, marking 25 years of devolution with a heartwarming visit to the Senedd.

Welcomed by a guard of honour from the Royal Welsh, the royal couple underscored their deep connection to the region through this memorable visit.

Delivering his address in both Welsh and English, King Charles praised the Senedd for its dedication to the Welsh language, noting its integral role in the institution's operations.

"It's wonderful to see the Senedd embrace Welsh as a foundation," the King stated, highlighting the importance of linguistic inclusivity.

Reflecting on Wales' journey over the past 25 years, Charles emphasized the Senedd's crucial role in providing the nation with a "distinct voice" characterized by clarity and purpose, describing the occasion as a significant milestone in Wales' history.

The King also mentioned Prince William's recent visit to Ynys Mon, noting its personal significance to his son. "It's a place that means so much to him," he remarked, linking the royal family's personal ties with the broader Welsh community.

The event saw schoolchildren from various parts of Wales, along with civic leaders including Senedd's presiding officer Elin Jones and First Minister Vaughan Gething, joining in the ceremonial welcome.

The King's harpist, Mared Pugh-Evans, filled the air with festive melodies, setting a celebratory tone.

Elin Jones delivered an inspiring speech, followed by remarks from First Minister Vaughan Gething and other political leaders. The ceremony featured a poignant performance of "Safwn yn y Bwlch" by an ensemble from Ysgol Treganna, along with the recitation of two evocative poems by Aron Pritchard of the Senedd staff, commemorating the institution's history and celebrating its 25th anniversary.
