King Charles and Prince William have reportedly called off a planned meeting at Buckingham Palace, originally intended to honor England's soccer team.
The King and Prince of Wales had scheduled to host the England football team at the Palace, possibly including plans for an open-top bus parade through London's streets in celebration of their achievements.
However, after England's defeat in the Euro 2024 final against Spain, plans for the reception with the monarch and heir to the throne were shelved. The disappointing outcome in Berlin marked England's second consecutive Euro final loss under manager Gareth Southgate.
Prior to the final match, both King Charles and Prince William had publicly supported the team, with William even traveling to Germany alongside his eldest son Prince George to cheer on the Three Lions.
Despite their presence and encouragement, England faced a heart-wrenching 2-1 defeat against Spain in the UEFA Euro 2024 final.
