Anti-monarchy protesters targeted King Charles in Scotland during a ceremony honouring Queen Camilla and Prince Edward.
Demonstrators from the Republic group gathered on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, chanting "Not my King!" and displaying signs with the same slogan as the Order of the Thistle ceremony took place at St Giles' Cathedral. The event is part of Holyrood Week, celebrating Scottish culture and community achievements.
Queen Camilla and Prince Edward were appointed to the Order of the Thistle, Scotland's highest order of chivalry, recognizing their significant contributions to Scottish life. King Charles, who presided over the ceremony as the Sovereign of the Order, can independently appoint members.
Prince William attended the ceremony, but Princess Kate was absent due to her recovery from cancer treatment. Despite the protests, many members of the public welcomed the King, waving Union flags in support.
Following the ceremony, Camilla and Edward were also appointed as Royal Knights of the Order. The royal visit to Edinburgh is part of a shortened Holyrood Week due to the General Election, ending on July 3.
