King Charles Makes Historic Change for Prince George

King Charles makes major change to fulfil grandson Prince George’s wishes

King Charles has demonstrated his dedication as a grandfather by honouring his eldest grandson Prince George's request for a significant alteration to a long-standing royal tradition.

During King Charles' Coronation in May 2023, Prince George, the first-born of Prince William and Kate Middleton, served as one of the pages of honour. Traditionally, pages of honour have worn white knee breeches, a component of the ancient dress code. However, the young prince found the attire uncomfortable.

"Prince George wasn't keen on wearing tights and becoming a subject of ribaldry at school," an insider disclosed to the Daily Mail. To accommodate his grandson's preference, the monarch opted for trousers instead of tights.

The role of Page of Honour is typically reserved for teenage sons of nobility and senior Royal Household members to assist with carrying the long, heavy robes. Another insider revealed that Charles was "very keen to show those in the line of succession, his natural heirs, at the centre of his Coronation." This led to George, despite being only nine, receiving the role due to his "very mature and deep understanding" of his future responsibilities.

The historic event also saw the attendance of George's siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. While George was given a special role, Charlotte and Louis were seated with their parents.
