Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly embroiled in a new feud with David and Victoria Beckham. The British couple's biopic has earned five Emmy nominations, a stark contrast to the Sussexes' recent productions.
Despite the popularity of their six-part series Harry & Meghan and Prince Harry's documentary Heart of Invictus topping Netflix charts in Britain and America, neither received Emmy nods.
Conversely, the Beckhams' biopic has been recognized in several categories, including Best Documentary or Nonfiction Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program, Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program, Outstanding Picture Editing, and Outstanding Music Composition.
"Making this series was such a personal journey, a love letter to football and my family," David Beckham shared with Hello! magazine. "It has been overwhelming for me and Victoria to receive such a warm and positive response."
While Harry and Meghan's projects have achieved significant viewership, the lack of Emmy recognition stands in contrast to the Beckham's accolades. In 2023, Harry & Meghan did not receive an Emmy nomination, and Heart of Invictus was similarly overlooked in 2024.
The outstanding documentary award went to The 1619 Project. Meghan, however, did win a People's Choice Award and a Gracie Award for her Spotify podcast Archetypes, though she did not attend either ceremony.
Since moving back to her home state, Meghan has notably been absent from the Emmys and the Oscars. She did, however, attend Variety's Power of Women awards in November 2023. Overall, the Sussexes have largely stayed out of the Hollywood A-list scene.
