Meghan Markle Finds Inspiration in Prince William and Kate Middleton's Charity Work
Meghan Markle is mirroring the charitable efforts of Prince William and Kate Middleton by engaging in a new charity campaign.
The Duchess of Sussex is showing her commitment to philanthropy by supporting a charity that provides essential resources like food and clothing to those in need near her and Prince Harry’s residence in the US.
Meghan, 42, has reportedly been in discussions with actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley about potentially assisting the non-profit Unity Shoppe in Santa Barbara, near their Montecito home.
Angela Miller-Bevan, the executive director and CEO of Unity Shoppe, shared her enthusiasm about Meghan’s possible involvement. “I know other celebrities that support us have spoken to Meghan. I’m hoping it works out. We’d love to have her as part of our family,” she said. Unity Shoppe already enjoys support from stars such as Katy Perry, Rob Lowe, and Kenny Loggins.
Celebrities and affluent residents of Santa Barbara, including Kimberly and her husband, country music star Brad Paisley, are known for their charitable contributions. Angela noted, “They give us a lot of support, which we are very grateful for – especially for our annual telethon.”
Meghan, a mother of two, was recently seen having lunch with Kimberly at Tre Lune, a popular Italian restaurant in Montecito. Like Meghan, Kimberly is passionate about charity work.
This development follows the disclosure of royal accounts detailing the taxpayer funds used for the official duties of the royal family, as well as the personal incomes of King Charles and Prince William. Notably, Prince William has chosen not to disclose the amount of tax paid on his Duchy of Cornwall income, a practice his father adhered to during his tenure.
When questioned about this decision, sources mentioned it was a deliberate choice reflecting current requirements. However, former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt criticized the lack of transparency, stating, "Royal non-disclosure triumphs over transparency. William's obsession with privacy trumps any concerns as to how this may look." He added that this approach could become unsustainable in the future.
Despite the financial scrutiny, Prince William and Kate have demonstrated their commitment to philanthropy by making undisclosed personal donations to charities supporting Ukraine and earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria.
