Harry Returns to UK Amidst Father's Health Crisis
When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped back from their roles as working royals and left the UK, they initially hoped to serve the crown part-time. However, the royal household rejected their proposal, leading the couple to establish a new path independently.
Since relinquishing their royal duties, Meghan and Harry have made occasional visits to the UK, with Harry returning more frequently alone. According to a royal expert, Meghan's absence on these trips may be due to security concerns, which have been a significant issue for the couple since losing taxpayer-funded police protection.
Jennie Bond, former BBC royal correspondent, shared with OK! Magazine that Meghan's reluctance to accompany Harry is likely due to safety worries. "Given Harry's concerns about safety, it's unlikely Meghan will join him at public events," Bond explained. This issue has been a central point in Harry's ongoing legal battle with the Home Office over security provisions.
The couple also faces ongoing family tensions, further complicating Meghan's potential visits. Bond noted that Meghan might be anxious about the public's reaction and the impact her presence could have on reconciliation efforts within the royal family.
When King Charles was diagnosed with cancer, Harry swiftly returned to the UK to support his father. Both Harry and Meghan sent well wishes to Kate Middleton amid her own health challenges. However, during Harry's solo return to celebrate the Invictus Games' 10th anniversary, he could not schedule meetings with his father or brother William.
Despite inviting his father and brother to the Invictus anniversary service at St. Paul's Cathedral, they did not attend. Nevertheless, Harry's maternal family came out in full support to celebrate the milestone event.
