Meghan Markle, wife of Prince Harry, allegedly left one of her staff members in tears during a foreign trip, sparking reactions from fans and further scrutiny of her behavior.
The Duchess of Sussex reportedly "turned and hissed" at a staffer, an incident witnessed by royal correspondent Rebecca English of the Daily Mail. English recalled the moment, saying, "I was there at the time and witnessed Meghan turn and 'hiss' at a member of her entourage, clearly incandescent with rage about something, and demand to leave."
The journalist further described seeing the distressed staffer in tears, sitting in an official car, "humiliation etched on her features."
The incident allegedly took place during Meghan and Prince Harry's trip to Fiji, while Meghan was in the early stages of her pregnancy with Prince Archie. According to The Sun, Meghan's anger stemmed from the presence of a group called UN Women at a market she was visiting, despite her reported insistence that they not attend.
Video footage from the event shows the Duchess whispering to an aide before being abruptly escorted away. Meghan's lawyers, however, denied that her departure was related to UN Women, noting her previous and subsequent engagements with the group.
"It was very hot and humid in there, so perhaps it wasn’t the best environment for a pregnant woman," one witness told the Mirror. "After speaking for about a minute, she broke off and spoke to the same aide again before being whisked out of the market very soon after."
Rebecca English also mentioned the existence of a group called the 'Sussex Survivors Club,' comprising former staff members who reportedly suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder due to their experiences working for the Duke and Duchess.
Notably, Meghan's former personal assistant, Melissa Touabti, who played a crucial role in organizing the couple's wedding in May 2018, stepped down from her role just a few months later.
