Mother of Kate Middleton's Best Friend Breaks Silence on Heartwarming Palace Gesture

Kate Middleton has met Tony, affectionately referred to as her 'best friend', several times.

Recently, Tony's mother, Paula Hudgell, reacted to a touching gesture from Buckingham Palace in meaningful words. Last week, Queen Camilla made a dream come true for two child fundraising heroes and their families by inviting them to a private garden party at Buckingham Palace.

Tony, nine, who has met the Princess of Wales multiple times, is known for his remarkable efforts despite suffering life-changing injuries from horrific child abuse as a baby. Princess Kate, who is currently battling cancer, often praises Tony's good deeds.

Paula Hudgell expressed that it was an "honour" and described the Buckingham Palace gesture as "an experience we would never have dreamed of." She added, "Tony chatted to The Queen as if they were old friends, and she was lovely with him. It was an exceptionally proud moment when the Queen gave Tony his BEM. We would like to thank everyone who made this one of the most memorable days we will ever have."

According to a palace insider, Princess Kate had plans to meet Tony as well, being impressed by his courage and dedication to helping others at such a young age.

Tony has been raising money for charity since the age of five, inspired by Captain Tom Moore’s fundraising efforts. He walked 10km in June 2020 to raise funds and has since collected an incredible £1.8 million for the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, where he received treatment. He was the youngest-ever recipient of a New Year Honour for his services to the prevention of child abuse and has also received the Pride of Britain Award and UK Points of Light award.

Additionally, brain tumour patient Layla O'Donovan's father shared his 11-year-old daughter's reaction after being honoured by Queen Camilla. He said, "Layla was initially gutted about missing the original garden party, but she’s glad now as she got to meet The Queen. There’s no one else more important than her, apart from The King of course."

Layla's father described the moment as “amazing for us as a family,” especially considering Layla’s recent health struggles. “She’s been having many more seizures, up to eight a week in school, so we always cherish everything we do. For us to come and have an experience like this was incredible, and Layla loved every second of our trip.”
