Prince George Set for Major Lifestyle Change Following Birthday
Prince George is preparing for a significant change in royal protocol as he turned 11 on Monday.
The young prince, who is second in line to the throne, will face a new, stringent rule next year, as explained by royal author Christopher Andersen. “This may be the last year George will be allowed to fly with his father,” Andersen told Fox News Digital. “Starting at age 12, heirs to the throne are required to take separate flights to preserve the line of succession in case of an accident.”
Andersen noted that when William turned 12, he began flying on a separate royal jet from his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince Harry. “It’s a morbid rule, but then again, when they turn 16, all senior royals are also asked to help plan their own funerals,” Andersen added.
Prince George is expected to spend his birthday at Windsor, where he will have two “low-key” birthday parties, according to Andersen. The Prince and Princess of Wales also wished their son a happy birthday with a black-and-white photo of George, smartly dressed and smiling widely at the camera. The photo, taken by Kate, was shared on the official account of the Waleses.
