Prince Harry's Response to ESPY Award Controversy Revealed
Prince Harry has expressed his shock over the backlash he received following his nomination for the Pat Tillman Award for Service at the upcoming ESPY awards.
A source revealed to The Telegraph that the Duke of Sussex found the criticism particularly hard to accept, describing it as a “bitter pill to swallow.” They explained, “Harry’s legacy with Invictus and his achievements in this space are his real passion.”
The source also mentioned that Harry is unsettled by the negative discourse surrounding his military background. “This is the space in which he truly feels at home and deeply cares about. The reaction has certainly taken the shine off the award,” they added.
Prince Harry is set to receive the honorary award for his service to war veterans as the founder of The Invictus Games. However, Pat Tillman’s mother, Mary, criticized ESPN’s decision to select Harry, calling him a controversial and divisive figure. She told the Mail on Sunday, “I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award. There are recipients that are far more fitting.”
