Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Drop Plans for UK Home

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made a final decision on their UK residence, opting to abandon their search for a home base.

The Duke of Sussex is currently embroiled in a legal battle with the Home Office over security concerns, as he cannot hire taxpayer-funded police protection. This legal issue has influenced their decision to halt their plans for a UK residence.

Initially, the Sussexes were searching for a part-time home near Windsor following their eviction from Frogmore Cottage. However, a source quoted by The Express revealed that they have decided to give up on the search altogether.

“Harry really does want to spend more time in the UK but doesn’t feel comfortable doing that until the security issues have been ironed out,” the insider stated. The couple had hoped the appeals process regarding their security could be resolved by the end of July, allowing them to start their search. However, the court proceedings are taking longer than expected.

Harry was particularly keen on having a UK residence to avoid staying in hotels, which he has had to do over the past year. Earlier this year, he lost his case against the Home Office when the London High Court ruled to strip the Sussexes of taxpayer-funded security protection. Consequently, Harry was ordered to pay 90% of the Home Office’s legal costs.
