The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who once symbolized national unity, now seem to stir division with their actions, according to The Sun’s royal correspondent Richard Palmer.
Palmer observed that while U.S. media initially celebrated Meghan as an "American princess" wronged by prejudiced Brits, opinions have grown more divided over time. British PR expert Mark Borkowski remarked that the couple's recent Pat Tillman honor "backfired," suggesting they should be concerned about their next steps.
Autumn Brewington, a longtime royal commentator and former Washington Post journalist, highlighted the American perspective on the Sussexes, noting that Americans generally equate royalty with celebrity. She pointed out that many Americans have lost interest in Harry and Meghan due to their unfulfilled promises since leaving the Royal Family.
“Harry and Meghan have said they are going to do a lot of things that nobody has actually seen them do yet,” Brewington noted. She emphasized that, in light of the failure of Meghan’s $20 million podcast deal with Spotify and other pending projects, the couple needs to move from voicing grievances to delivering on their commitments.
