Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Receive New Titles Amid Award Controversy

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, find themselves in hot water as they face backlash over Prince Harry's upcoming Pat Tillman Award.

The controversy centers around the former working royal being slated to receive the notable accolade on behalf of the late war hero Pat Tillman at the 2024 ESPY Awards on July 11 in Los Angeles.

Pat Tillman’s mother, Mary, voiced her disapproval, stating that the Duke of Sussex is too "prevailed" for this honor and criticized the management for their decision to award Harry, calling him "controversial and divisive."

The decision has sparked outrage among many Americans, who have called on authorities to reconsider their choice. Royal commentator Nile Gardiner supported Mary Tillman's stance, telling GB News, "She was right to attack this award. And there's already a big online petition calling for the prize not to be given to Prince Harry."

Gardiner also highlighted the growing unpopularity of Harry and Meghan in the United States. He remarked, "Harry and Meghan are viewed as selfish, narcissistic individuals who have launched attack after attack upon their own family and have, you know, trashed the royal family."

He added, "The Americans are very pro the British monarchy. They really love the Royal Family. They do not look kindly upon Harry and Meghan trashing them in the United States, and it does not go down very well."

This controversy adds to the ongoing challenges faced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they navigate their roles and public perception in their post-royal life in California.
