Prince Harry 'Hates' Father King Charles' Decision
Prince Harry is reportedly devastated after a major royal decision stripped him of his cherished military titles, a move that has left the Duke of Sussex deeply hurt. According to a source, Harry silently cried upon learning that he would no longer retain his formal military links.
"Harry was genuinely hurt that he was not allowed to retain his formal links to the military," a friend of the Duke told the Mail. The Duke, who served two tours in Afghanistan, previously held several honorary military titles, including Commodore-in-Chief of Small Ships and Diving, Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Honington, and Captain General of the Royal Marines. These titles, bestowed upon him by the late Queen Elizabeth II, were taken away once he stepped down as a senior working member of the royal family.
This decision has exacerbated Harry's sense of estrangement from his family. Royal author Robert Jobson noted that Harry "hates" his father King Charles' drastic measures following his departure from royal duties in 2020. Jobson stated, "He hates the idea that he is not Captain General of the Royal Marines … and he hates the fact that he’s lost all these positions."
In a particularly painful twist, Buckingham Palace announced in May that Prince William would be made Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps, a unit with which Harry personally served in Afghanistan. This announcement coincided with Harry's return to London for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, intensifying his feelings of marginalization. Royal expert Tom Quinn commented, "King Charles’ announcement … is a real kick in the teeth for the son who always felt marginalized and underrated."
Adding to his distress, Harry faces backlash in the US over receiving a memorial award named after Pat Tillman. A petition opposing the award has gathered 50,000 signatures, arguing that Harry's selection disrespects Tillman's memory. Mary Tillman, Pat's mother, criticized the decision, saying, "I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award."
As Harry contends with these challenges, his emotional turmoil underscores the ongoing rift within the royal family and his struggle to reconcile his past roles with his current situation.
