Prince Harry’s Media Issues Only Surfaced After Meeting Meghan Markle

Royal Correspondent Remembers Prince Harry Being 'Content' with British Press

Prince Harry, who stepped down from his senior royal role in 2020 alongside his wife Meghan Markle, did not foresee the significant changes in his life.

Once regarded as "one of the most popular members" of the Royal Family, Harry now faces criticism for his recent actions, according to royal correspondent Sarah Hewson.

Speaking to The Sun, Hewson attributed Harry's popularity to his relatability.

“He was seen as relatable,” she said. “Yes, there were headlines about the 'Party Prince' and such, but it was part of his charm and his ability to connect with people.”

She continued, “He was a significant figure within the Royal Family because of his unique ability to reach people in a way others couldn't, much like his mother.”

Hewson recalled Harry’s 2008 trip to Lesotho, where he honored Princess Diana’s legacy and was “free from the constraints of Palace life.”

"He was working with children, doing what brought him joy. He was free and truly alive."

She added that during this time, Harry did not exhibit any issues with the media and seemed "content" to have the press present.
