Prince William and Kate Middleton Reach Out to Help Victims of Hurricane Beryl
Prince William and Kate Middleton have shown that they prioritize actions over words by stepping up to ease the suffering of Hurricane Beryl victims.
The Prince and Princess of Wales made a significant donation to support Caribbean countries such as Jamaica, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela, which were devastated by the hurricane, causing £1 billion in damage.
This generous move can be seen as a message or a lesson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are also known for their charitable endeavors.
Hurricane Beryl caused approximately £1 billion in global damage. According to sources, William and Kate are donating privately to the relief efforts, though the exact amount remains undisclosed.
In 2022, the couple visited Jamaica and the Bahamas to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years on the throne.
King Charles III also expressed his condolences, saying: "My family and I have been profoundly saddened to learn of the dreadful destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl across the Caribbean. Above all, we send our heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of those who have cruelly lost their lives."
The hurricane, with maximum sustained wind speeds of over 160 mph, became the earliest category-five Atlantic hurricane in records dating back around 100 years. Only one other category-five Atlantic hurricane has been recorded in July: Hurricane Emily on July 16, 2005.
A resident of Union Island reported that nearly every building on the island, part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, was either destroyed or severely damaged.
Katrina Coy, director of the Union Island Environmental Alliance, shared that the hurricane left most of the island's population homeless. "Union Island is in a terrible state after Beryl passed. Almost the whole island is homeless. Houses are flattened, roads are blocked, and electricity poles are down in the streets," she said in a video message.
Coy added, "We’re in dire need of help. Emergency kits, food, evacuation—all of that is needed right now."
Princess Kate, who is undergoing chemotherapy following her cancer treatment, has been deeply moved by the plight of those in desperate need of rescue.
