Princess Anne has been on a break from royal duties for an indefinite period as she continues to recover from a head injury sustained in a horse attack.
The sister of the 75-year-old monarch is the latest royal to take a hiatus after being struck by a horse at the Gatcombe Park estate last week.
Speaking to the Daily Express, a source revealed that the Princess Royal is "recovering slowly and receiving rehabilitation,” indicating that her head injury is more serious than originally reported by Buckingham Palace.
Additionally, the source praised Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and their daughter, Zara Tindall, for their efforts in looking after her.
"Anne is receiving home rehabilitation. Tim and Zara are helping coordinate the medical visits and ensure she has everything she needs," the insider told the outlet.
They explained, "Zara is taking an active role in helping her mother recover from the accident. The Tindalls live a stone’s throw away on the Gatcombe Park estate, so Zara is always available to check on Anne and provide anything she needs."
"Mike and the grandchildren also make regular visits to keep everything as 'normal' as possible for Anne. Tim is also providing great support."
"There’s a shift rota in place to ensure there is always someone with her at any given time," the source added.
