Princess Beatrice Takes Action After Sarah Ferguson's Cancer Diagnosis

Princess Beatrice Advocates for Sun Protection Following Sarah Ferguson's Cancer Diagnosis

Princess Beatrice, 35, recently made a significant move by advocating for sun protection following her mother Sarah Ferguson's cancer diagnosis. On Thursday, Beatrice visited St Mary's and St John's Primary School in London, wearing a floral dress from Me + Em, where she engaged with Year Five pupils about the importance of shielding skin from sun damage to prevent potential skin cancers in the future.

As a Patron of the British Skin Foundation, Beatrice's visit held personal significance, given her mother's recent battle with skin cancer. Sarah Ferguson, 64, had a malignant melanoma removed earlier this year after undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

During the school assembly, Princess Beatrice received a bouquet from the pupils and emphasized the importance of UV protection. Her advocacy aligns with her charitable commitments, including support for Forget Me Not Children's Hospice and the York Musical Society.

Beatrice became Patron of the British Skin Foundation in 2023, a UK charity dedicated to funding research into skin diseases, including skin cancer. The foundation has supported numerous research projects with £17 million in funding.

Despite medical advice against claiming "cancer-free" status, Sarah Ferguson's prognosis remains positive. She is currently focused on writing a children's book titled "Flora and Fern: Wonder in the Woods," set for release in October.
