Princess Charlotte is stepping up to support her mother, Kate Middleton, as she undergoes treatment for cancer. The Princess of Wales has kept a low profile this year while receiving chemotherapy for an undisclosed type of cancer, raising concern among royal fans about the family's well-being.
Behind the scenes, Kate's children are helping in any way they can. Royal experts have noted that nine-year-old Princess Charlotte is particularly involved in her mother's care and well-being.
Royal expert and author Ingrid Seward told Hello! that the “protective” Princess Charlotte is actively "taking care" of Kate. Seward, who analyzed their interactions at the Trooping the Colour Parade, said: "I think that Charlotte is really taking care of her mum. It was quite sweet the way she stood in front of her and they kept chatting. Charlotte seems to be very full of admiration for her mother, which I think is a lovely thing, too.”
Seward added, “Kate and Charlotte are great friends and I think to Kate, their bond is very precious. The mother-daughter relationship is particularly important to Kate because she has such a close relationship with her own mother, Carole Middleton.”
During the parade, Princess Charlotte was seen making a heartwarming gesture of support. Kate's three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, joined her at the Trooping the Colour event on June 15. The family rode into the King's birthday celebration in a carriage, but the rainy weather caused their windows to steam up, preventing them from waving to the crowds. Mother and daughter took to cleaning the windows so they could greet their fans. At one point, Kate stopped wiping the window, and Charlotte continued to clean it for both of them. Charlotte also kept an eye on her younger brother, Prince Louis, ensuring he behaved during the event.
On the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Kate previously shared how she incorporates her family's traditions into her parenting. She said, “I had an amazing Granny who devoted a lot of time to us—playing with us, doing arts and crafts, and going to the greenhouse to do gardening, and cooking with us—and I try and incorporate a lot of the experiences that she gave us at the time into the experiences that I give my children now."
