Previously unseen letters penned by Princess Diana have surfaced, shedding light on the bond between Prince William and Prince Harry. Addressed to Violet Collison, the former head housekeeper to Diana's parents at the Sandringham Estate, these intimate correspondences are set to be auctioned.
In one poignant letter, Diana described a touching moment between her sons: "William adores his little brother and spends the entire time pouring an endless supply of hugs and kisses over Harry."
Collison, affectionately known as Collie, maintained a close relationship with the family until her death in 2013 at age 89. The letters span from before Diana's marriage to Charles to the early years of Prince William and Harry's lives.
Now, these heartfelt messages are being auctioned by Sworders in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. Many of the letters are thank-you notes for birthday and Christmas gifts given to Diana and her sons.
One notable letter, dated July 8, 1981, just weeks before Diana's wedding, reflects the frenzy of last-minute preparations: "Everyone is frantically busy here doing last minute decorations… the bride-to-be has remained quite calm!"
This letter, along with others, will be part of the Out of the Ordinary Sale on July 30th. The collection includes over a dozen letters and cards, with one particularly touching letter expected to sell for £800-1,200.
