In a recent episode of Vanity Fair's Dynasty podcast, royal expert Katie Nicholl discussed the incident and its impact on the King. The podcast explored how King Charles' role has evolved within the royal family throughout this challenging year.
Nicholl revealed that the couple's late arrival at the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla, one of the most significant events for the monarchy in decades, left the King in a state of tension. She stated, "They were late," which was particularly upsetting for King Charles, known for his punctuality.
The timing of the incident coincided with Prince Harry's presence in London for his father's crowning ceremony. Nicholl defended the Prince and Princess of Wales, noting the pressure they felt surrounding the Coronation. Prince George played a prominent role as a Page of Honour to his grandfather, and Prince William pledged his loyalty to King Charles.
A friend of the family explained the couple's decision to bring their children to the event, despite the challenges. "It was their first state occasion. A big thing to take such young children to, particularly Louis. They looked majestic and regal but were frantically paddling beneath the surface," the friend described.
Additionally, William and Kate were concerned about potential drama due to Prince Harry's presence following his and Meghan Markle's recent explosive claims about the royal family.
