Duchess of Sussex Arrives in Colombia Following Royal Family Criticisms in Netflix Series
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have arrived in Colombia, where they were warmly welcomed by Vice President Francia Márquez, who has openly expressed her admiration for the Duchess of Sussex.
The first official image from their four-day visit to the South American country captures a heartfelt embrace between Meghan and Márquez, as featured on GB News.
Márquez extended an invitation to the Sussexes with the intent of sharing their story in Colombia. As the tour began, Márquez revealed what motivated her to bring Meghan and Harry to the country.
"I learned their story through Netflix, and it moved me," Márquez shared. "Meghan is a woman who deserves to come here and tell her story."
The vice president elaborated, "Last year, on July 25, we celebrated the Day of Afro-descendant Women. We wanted to invite Meghan, an Afro-descendant woman, to share her experiences."
Márquez added, "Although Meghan couldn't attend that event, she expressed a strong desire to visit Colombia. We've spent the last year working to make this visit happen."
The royal couple arrived in Bogotá, where they met with Márquez and her husband, marking the start of their official visit to Colombia.
