Archewell Foundation’s Contributions Make Impact Amidst £1.5M Security Dispute
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a meaningful impact during their four-day visit to Colombia, where they donated a variety of gifts through The Archewell Foundation.
Invited by Vice President Francia Marquez, the couple's visit focused on their commitment to "show up and do good, no matter where we are in the world."
Among their donations, they provided drum sets to Escuela Tambores de Cabildo and funded enhancements to a "socio-emotional gym" at Colegio La Giralda school. Additionally, they pledged financial support to create a "secure environment for local children to explore, learn, and connect" in San Basilio de Palenque.
These contributions underscore Harry and Meghan's dedication to uplifting communities around the world.
In light of recent controversies over security costs, with claims that their protection expenses exceeded £1.5 million, Colombian officials have clarified that the couple financed their entire trip.
According to reports from El País, the Colombian Ministry confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex paid for their travel and that of their team using their own resources, while international agencies contributed to some overall expenses.
