Meghan Markle Faces Royal Silence Ahead of 43rd Birthday
In a move highlighting the ongoing tensions between the royal family and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, King Charles and Prince William have opted not to publicly acknowledge Meghan’s 43rd birthday. The decision reflects the strained relationship between the Sussexes and the Firm, with concerns over appearing insincere.
As Meghan Markle’s birthday approaches, speculation abounds about whether any royal figure will extend their regards. Historian and broadcaster Tessa Dunlop revealed to OK! Magazine that the royal family decided to refrain from making public statements for Harry and Meghan’s birthdays after the release of Harry’s memoir, Spare, and their critical comments about the monarchy. “Given the world knows they’re not really speaking much, any gesture might look a bit fake,” Dunlop noted, emphasising the risk of appearing “disingenuous and insincere.”
The last time the royal family, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton, and Prince William, sent birthday wishes to Meghan was in August 2022, before the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
